If you don't want your coworkers to know you're traveling while working:
Set your computer time to the time zone you are working in.
Reason being, you could share you whole screen and they can see. Also when you’re speaking to someone and refer to the time, you want to always be thinking in the time zone you are working in.
Required Purchases for Traveling
So you want to live your best life and travel? Here’s the shit to prep…
GET FUCKING TRAVEL INSURANCE. It’s $30 per month and will cover the cost if you need to see a doctor for something small like an ear ache, or something dramatic like dengue where you need to be air lifted to a hospital. Just do it.
I always google search, “Forbes Travel Insurance” and follow the prompts for the first or second recommendation (World Atlas or Squaremouth). Within 7 minutes, I’m insured. You can
Buy this shit, tried and true, and you won’t regret it:
Luggage
Compression Packing Cubes: any brand works, just make sure they’re compression
Clothing
Blundstone’s Vibram-Bottom, Waterproof Boots: My everyday shoe. I’ve hiked volcanos, worked out at Orange Theory, and worn to nice dinners. The everything-in-one shoe.
Less-ugly-than-others sneaker: I do not wear sneakers. Ever. So I asked travelers for their recommendations and multiple people sent me these. I’m still a Blundstone boot girl, but if you want a sneaker, then this seems like a good place to start.
Bikini: just one
Bikini: okay, two at max
One Piece #1 & One Piece #2: both are very flattering
Accessories
LifeStraw Collapsible Squeeze Bottle with Water Filter: It also has a carry hook so I attach a carribeaner to mine and clip it on my fanny pack so it’s hands free. Even if you’re going to a 1st world country, a water bottle that filters microplastics and other gross shit out of your agua is necessary. I like the smaller 650ml.
Microfiber for Towels for showering: I travel with a stupid amount of towels. Three in this pack: one for your face, and other one for your face, and one for your body.
Yoga Towel (that doubles as a beach towel): I got mine for free and there isn’t a brand label, but this one I found on Amazon will do the trick.
Portable charger with built-in cables: no shit
A lock: for your locker at hostels
Black out eye mask + ear plugs: 100% necessary even if you don’t use one at home
Memory Foam Pillow: I need it, okay? Lay off.
Earplugs for concerts: your future self will thank you. Tinnitus would suck.
Laundry Detergent Sheets: in case you want to wash your clothes in the sink
Speaker, this one is a bit large, but was fine
Fanny Pack: #1 (lululemon dupe) and #2 (can fit a fucking water bottle in it)
Headlamp: for hostels or hiking
Kindle: I was against it, then I traveled for 6 months with 5 books and got over carrying them really fast.
Air tags: put them in your luggage
Toe Separators: best purchase of 2022
Mic to start a podcast
For Work
Portable Computer Stand (this one is really fucking heavy, so don’t get this one. BUT, use this design as a guide, notice how you can lift it in two directions)
Keyboard + Mouse
Skincare
Mouth tape: i't’s good for you, and you won’t snore.
Scissors to cut your own hair: I’d rather spend my money on literally anything else than haircuts
