Lake Atitlan

DO NOT brush your teeth with the water. It's known that everyone gets sick at the Lake, this is why. Don't order vegetables that you know they rinsed with the tap water

PANAJACHEL (locals call it "Pana")

Most cars take you here and you then take a bus to the different citites for 25Q

Mr. Mullets in San Jose (budget dorm rooms)

  • 3 SDSU Owners; Kenny was the only one there when I went

  • Bar crawl on Fridays 

  • Boat party on the 5th and 20th of the month

  • Beds are comfy enough

  • Don’t stay longer than 3 nights

Santa Cruz

Free Cervesza in Santa Cruz 

  • FUCK the 4 person tents. If you have to, get a two person private tent, or get a Casita. It’s worth it. 

  • Family Dinners every night for ~$10 that are 3 courses (soup, meal, cupcake)

  • Every morning they have an 1 activity: Sunrise Hikes, Sunrise Paddle Board, or Morning Yoga

  • Every evening they have 1 activity: trivia, movie, beer pong, etc 

  • I stayed for 8 nights and it was too much for me. Would have been happy with 4.

Eagles Nest

  • $80-$90 for dorm, $120 for private (includes all classes and 3 meals a day)

  • If if you don’t stay there, you have to go there for an afternoon. Great food, views, and check out their workshops and classes. Individual yoga classes are $20, but I promise it’s worth it

When you get off the boat, if you turn right and follow the shore…

  1. You’ll get to a Cheaper Hostel:

  • $6 yoga classes with good view

  • Dorms are comfy enough, not great but not bad

  1. You’ll get to the Nature Reserve where there’s a 38 ft cliff jump
